The agenda for today is:
Opening: 1) Collect Homework: Letter to a U.S. Soldier 2) Warm-up: How to make a cup of tea - Following Directions 3) Activating Lesson: Helping Verbs and Main Verbs through "Old Mr. Do's" story.
Work Session: 4) Using rapid fire questioning to identify the last time they thanked someone and the reason they thanked that person 5) Review the basic elements (date, salutation, body, closing, signature) of a letter 6) Discuss punctuation (for date, salutation, and closing) 7) Discuss capitalization for the closing (the second word is lower case) 8)Model a thank you note and identify how it is different 8) Write a thank you note to your parents
Closing: 9) How will your thank you letter impact your parents? How is the purpose of a thank you letter different from that of a friendly letter?
Homework: *Read for 20 minutes and record it in your reading log ** Learn the community of helping verbs using the handout provided **
