About Mr. Short

My name is Matthew Short.  I am an 8th Grade Social Studies (Georgia Studies) teacher at Griffin Middle School.  I also currently serve as the Social Studies Coordinator for Griffin.  I graduated from Western Carolina University in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science Education with a Minor in Political Science.  After teaching in North Carolina for one year I moved to Cobb County and began teaching at Griffin.  I was selected the Griffin Middle School Teacher of the Year for the 2005-2006 school year.  If you ever need to contact me, my email address and school phone number are listed below.

Performance Task: Behind Closed Doors

The following website and Microsoft Word documents contain resources necessary to complete the Performance Task: Behind Closed Doors.  The website allows students to take a virtual field trip through a slave owners house in Natchez, Mississippi, during the Antebellum Period.  Students will use the information gained from the virtual field trip to complete the Performance Task: Behind Closed Doors.  There is also a Writing Rubric to assist students with the revising process for Task 3 of the Performance Task: Behind Closed Doors.
