Tuesday, August 31, 2010 & Wednesday, September 1, 2010

8th Grade Classes: Students took notes on the Archaic, Woodland, and Mississippian Native American periods.  Students also collaborated in the library on the Native Americans IRA and the Native Americans review sheet.

7th Grade Classes: Students took the Middle East Map Test (Silver will take the test on Friday).  Also, students turned in the review sheet on the Government, Economy, Geography, and Cultures of the Middle East.  Students will participate in an Open-Notes Quiz on Wednesday & Thursday.

6th Grade Classes: Students discussed and took notes on the main religions of Europe.  Students also viewed a movie clip on the religions.  Additionally, students collaborated on the Geography and Cultures of Europe IRA and the religions of Europe Venn diagram. 

Monday, 8/30

8th Grade Silver Class: Today, students began the Early Americans unit by taking notes while having a class discussion. Also, students collaborated on their Paleo-Indian Rebuses, which are homework that will be due on Wednesday, 9/1. Students also continued to present their Think Tac Toe Projects.

7th Grade Silver Class: Today, students reviewed the economies of the Middle East and turned in their Governments of the Middle East IRA. Students also began their Middle East project, which will be due on 9/10. Students continued to work on their review sheet, which will be due on Wednesday, 9/1. Additionally, students will have a Middle East Map Test on 9/3. Students were also reminded that their Middle East books should be read by 9/3.

6th Grade Silver Class: Today, students discussed the geography and cultures of Europe.  Also, students collaborated on the Cultures and Geography of Europe IRA in the computer lab.  Lastly, students were reminded that they should have their historical fiction novel read by 9/3.   

Monday & Tuesday, 8/23 & 8/24, 2010

8th Graders continued presenting their Geography of Georgia Think Tac Toe Projects.  Also, the review sheet was discussed. The test will be on Wednesday (Blue) and Thursday (Silver).

6th Graders presented their Geography Challenge IRAs.  Also, they finished viewing the Europe's Geography movie clips and completed the reflection.

7th Graders discussed the governments of the Middle East with notes. They also began collaborating on the Middle East Governments Compare/Contrast IRA, which is due on Wednesday (Blue) and Thursday (Silver).

Week of August 16-20, 2010

8th Graders: Students wrapped up the Geography of Georgia unit with notes on the resources and climate of Georgia. Also, students completed the review sheet and the map of Georgia. Additionally, students collaborated on and presented their Think Tac Toe Projects on Georgia's Geography. Students took an Open-Notes Quiz, which they had the option of taking as a Closed-Notes Test. If they chose to take it as a Closed-Notes test, it will count as their summative assessment and they will not have to take the summative test on Georgia's Geography next week. Students will finish presenting projects next week. Students did an excellent job on their presentations thus far. Take a look at the pictures from those that chose the "create a map of Georgia" option! :)

7th Graders: Students working on memorizing the location of the countries and major bodies of water of the Middle East. Also, students took notes on and discussed the religions and ethnic groups of the Middle East.  Students are to complete the "Birthplace of 3 Religions" Packet for homework.  Students should also be able to locate, label, and spell correctly the bodies of water and countries that we have discussed in class.

6th Graders: Students labeled and colored a Geography map of Europe. Also, students completed 2 packets on the Geography Terms & Words of Significance. Lastly, students collaborated on the Geography Terms IRA with 2 partners.They will present the IRA in class on Monday and Tuesday.

First Weeks of School---August 9, 2010

Hello everyone! I hope that you had a great summer. It is ready to time to refocus our efforts on school.  In all of the classes, students were given a syllabus to have signed. This was due by the second class meeting. Also, students were given a book list of the historical fiction novels that they read outside of class to coincide with the current unit of study.  Students can borrow, check out, or buy the novels.
