RBC Bank recently announced their 2008 Tribute to Teachers award winners. Teachers are nominated and judged on their dedication and outstanding performance with students, their schools and community.

Of over 2500 nominations, Griffin's own Ms. Nadia Madrid was one of 34 teachers in the southern region to be recognized. Today, RBC representative, Lynn Ryan, visited Ms. Madrid's class and presented her with a $500 check for her classroom, along with a briefcase full of goodies.

Cobb County continues to hire innovative and enthusiastic teachers and Griffin is scooping up as many of these young student-advocates as possible! Congratulations on a great first year Nadia!

What about our other science classes? As Griffin begins to think of ways to give back, Ms. Barlow's class went on an on-campus field trip to help clean up our stream. Griffin's going green? Stay tuned for how Griffin will work toward doing our part in protecting our earth next year.

1. sweetarts (especially extra sour)
2. skittles
3. airheads
4. nerds
5. M&M's
6. bag of mixed chocolate candy bars

Griffin is transformed into the High Museum for an evening!

A sincere artist is not one who makes a faithful attempt to put on to canvas what is in front of him, but one who tries to create something which is, in itself, a living thing. ::: William Dobell :::

Pumped up for the CRCT

The CRCT began for all of CCSD today and Griffin is excited about how well-prepared our students are and look forward to the results in the coming weeks. Feel free to check our previous posting about how parents can help their children do the best they can on this very important academic assessment.

In order to build Griffin Team Spirit for the CRCT, the teachers are going to show solidarity for working toward making AYP and doing our best on the test. To do so, we have designated T-shirt colors to wear for each day of testing. We invite students to do the same, while still adhering to the dress code!

The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday (Reading Test)--WHITE
Thursday (LA Test)--RED
Friday (Math Test)--BLUE
Monday (Science Test)--ORANGE
Tuesday (Social Studies Test)--GREEN

Remember, maintaining appropriate dress code is still mandatory. But, lets show our support and Griffin spirit! Go Wildcats!
