Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. This year Red Ribbon Week was celebrated at Griffin during October 27-31, 2008.
Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America.
Griffin Middle School arranged for a "Red Ribbon Door Decoration Contest" where all advisement classes were to decorate their door in red and connect it to the theme of staying drug free. Mrs. Peters's advisement class chose the theme of a ghost, since it was celebrated during the week of Halloween. Our door these was "Say Boo To Drugs" and we created a large ghost on the door and each student created a mini-ghost and wrote an important message inside of each personal ghost. We also dressed the Fall scarecrow on the door in a red t-shirt and signed our names on the door to pledge that we will stay drug free. The whole advisement class is happy about the turnout of their decorated door. Great job guys!
Mrs. Peters' advisement class won 8th grades contest and received doughnuts as a prize! Yummy!
